So what do I do when styling the amazing Burton mod suit on offer from Jack London?
Read on and find out!
But Ben! what the hell will I do with a brown suit. I don’t know…wear it maybe? that’s always a good idea. But Yes, owning a slim cut brown suit has always been a goal of mine ever since I saw a documentary on Ronald Reagan…I mean…the gentleman was a very snappy dresser (perhaps something to do with being an ex-red carpet walker methinks) and he was very famous for his chocolate brown sartorial wins.
So I guess in some ways…this outfit is my take on that classic 60′s brown suit rather than me dressing like President Reagan (look up photos from the Apollo missions) Here I wore the 1 button Burton Mod Suit, white shirt and pencil tie all from Jack London. Saddle Shoes from Asos. I left out the tie bar to give it a slightly more non-business look. Also being a one button suit, its slightly more into the fashion-suit territory…than say…a normal two button suit jacket, so it can be worn as a casual piece. But for a short skinny man like myself, its equally good as a suit jacket.
I find people…well at least people I observe trying on suits…seem to never want to try anything different (they always go for black). A dark Chocolate suit can do just as much as any other staple colour (navy, grey etc..) you just need to pick the right seasons and days to wear it. AND! it has to be a darker shade of brown…not some mid light brown-tan 70′s number (NO NO NO) if you pair it with simple accessories you would look just fine in any office environment.
